Skilled and Enthusiastic: Senior Sonographers Dagmar de Bruijn, Marga Rietveld, and Saskia Brom Join Us to Train Sonographers in Dodoma

Recently, senior sonographers Dagmar de Bruijn, Marga Rietveld, and Saskia Brom have started mentoring our trainee sonographers in Dodoma. Here’s a brief introduction:

Dagmar learned her trade at the university clinic in Nijmegen and now works at a clinic in Kleve, Germany. She has also assisted at a clinic in Suriname. “This experience made me keenly aware that women in many parts of the world don’t have access to advanced healthcare.” By sharing her expertise with our students, she hopes to help reduce that disparity.

Marga is the owner of Echopraktijk Drechtsteden, a freelance sonographer, and has experience in policy and management. She’s eager to dive into her new role. “Achieving the best possible results together is what drives me. By answering questions from our Tanzanian trainee sonographers and exchanging case studies, we challenge each other. It’s both enjoyable and educational!”

Saskia studied medical imaging and radiotherapy techniques and works as a senior sonographer. She also has extensive teaching experience. “I’m looking forward to passing on that knowledge to our students.” Saskia also hopes to contribute to the foundation’s long-term dream: establishing a skills lab in Tanzania to further enhance local ultrasound education.
