improves mother and child care in Afrika
The Mount Meru Foundation is proud to announce that two new students have started the ultrasound training program in Dodoma.
One of these students is a familiar face to the foundation: Esther Mushi from Himo. Esther had previously applied for a training position through the foundation, and we are delighted to now offer her this opportunity. During our visit to Himo in 2023, we had the chance to meet Esther in person. Even then, we were impressed by her ambition and determination.
The second student joined our foundation’s program through a collaboration with development worker Branko Neumann. Branko and his wife, Dr. Rebecca Groen, run the Mnero Hospital in southern Tanzania (www.mnero.nl). There is a clear need for ultrasound specialists at this hospital. That is why our foundation is giving one of their midwives, Alexius Renatus, the opportunity to attend the one-year ultrasound program at the Benjamin Mkapa Institute in Dodoma. The hospital itself is contributing by continuing to pay her salary, ensuring that he can provide for his living expenses during the training.
We are confident that both students will successfully complete their training in July next year. We thank all those involved for their efforts and look forward to the positive impact this collaboration will bring for the students and for the region.
