improves mother and child care in Afrika
For many years, the Mount Meru Foundation has worked closely with Regina, an experienced Tanzanian sonographer based in Zanzibar. Through her daily professional practice, she plays an important role in training students supported by our foundation. This long-standing collaboration forms a valuable link between knowledge transfer and hands-on healthcare delivery.
In the past, the Mount Meru Foundation provided Regina with a mobile ultrasound device on loan, enabling her to continue offering diagnostic services even in resource-limited settings. A recent project update highlights how meaningful this support has been: in 2025 alone, Regina examined 278 patients using the mobile device, in addition to her regular duties.
The device is used when fixed equipment is unavailable or when pressure on healthcare services is high. In addition, Regina uses her expertise to provide practical guidance to students. She remains in contact with several former Mount Meru students—a fine example of how education and network-building reinforce one another.
We are grateful for Regina’s dedication and proud of this collaboration, which demonstrates how local expertise and targeted support together contribute to improved maternal and child healthcare.
