improves mother and child care in Afrika
In 2025, the Mount Meru Foundation (SMM) entered into a collaboration with the Mnero Hospital Foundation (SMH). SMH is a foundation that operates locally in Tanzania and is legally established in the Netherlands. It was founded to provide support and assistance to the people of Mnero, Tanzania.
Mnero Hospital is located in the Nachingwea District in the Lindi region in southern Tanzania, one of the poorest regions of the country. The hospital has approximately 100 beds and provides medical care to Mnero and surrounding villages, serving an estimated population of 200,000 people. About two-thirds of the care provided is for pregnant women and children, with ultrasound being an essential component of this care.
SMH provides support through projects supervised by a Dutch tropical doctor and a management consultant who live and work in Mnero.
In 2025, SMM was able to offer Alexius Renatus, an employee of Mnero Hospital, an ultrasound training program in Dodoma.
The management of Mnero Hospital has developed a project proposal aimed at strengthening ultrasound services and outreach care at the hospital, including several requests for support from SMM.
Together, we hope to develop this into a successful and impactful project.
