improves mother and child care in Afrika
Our program "Adopt an ultrasound technician" is bearing fruit! Thanks in part to your support, various ultrasound scans in Tanzania were able to successfully complete their basic training. Our board member Saja was the first to visit Dr. Wilson Simpa to evaluate the progress and see how we can guide him further in the coming two years.
Wilson works at the Karatu Health Center and is furthermore qualified in ultrasound at the Lutheran Hospital in Karatu. It turned out to be quite a tour: due to the heavy rainfall, their bajaj (a kind of tuk-tuk) did not progress any further and the last part had to be covered on foot.
Lutheran Hospital is reasonably provided for by Tanzanian standards, but there is still much to be gained. Three prematurely born babies of just one kilo had to do without an incubator. A new echo device has recently been added. With this, Wilson, a smart clinical officer, can enthusiastically put the acquired knowledge and skills into practice. He is happy with the extra month of training that the foundation could offer him thanks to your support.
Thanks to the willingness of his own hospital, he can also gain additional months of experience here under the supervision of radiographer Emanuel Sulle. Emanuel is very happy with the support that Wilson can give him and with the great progress he has already made. Wilson's own hospital, Karatu Health Center, will soon have a new ultrasound device. He is eager to get started. We will keep you informed!
