improves mother and child care in Afrika
As the Mount Meru Foundation, we have been active in maternal and child healthcare in Tanzania for ten years. We are following the situation that has recently developed there after the presidential elections with attention and concern.
We wish to emphasize that, as a Foundation, we do not take a political stance. Our work is solely focused on supporting mothers, children, and the communities in which they live. For this work, we depend on good cooperation with local governments, health institutions, and community organizations. In the interest of this collaboration and the safety of the people we work with, we refrain from making any public comments.
At the same time, our hearts go out to all the people in Tanzania who long for freedom, dignity, and a life without fear. We continue to believe in the strength, resilience, and future of the Tanzanian people—especially the women who give life and the children who carry the future. They are the heart of the nation, and it is for them that we continue our work, even in challenging times.
The symposium we planned to organize this year to mark our 10th anniversary will not take place under the current circumstances; in our view, the situation in Tanzania does not allow for such a moment of gathering and celebration to be held appropriately.
However, this is a postponement, not a cancellation. We sincerely hope that next year there will be space to come together—to celebrate the power of collaboration and to strengthen our shared commitment to mothers and children.
