1. Goals of Mount Meru Foundation
The objectives of Mount Meru Foundation:
- To contribute to improving the care for mother and child in Tanzania.
- To contribute to the training of nurses, midwives and doctors in ultrasound for obstetrics.
- Share / transfer and exchange our expertise and experience in the field of ultrasound scanning with colleagues in Tanzania.
- Strengthen mother and child care in rural areas using. trained ultrasound care providers, offering ultrasound examinations.
- There is no profit motive.
The Mount Meru Foundation is located at Herwijnenstraat 31, 5045 GP Tilburg.
2. Method of fundraising
The Mount Meru Foundation receives its income through donations. These donations are mainly given by private individuals and sponsorships.

The Mount Meru Foundation has a board that is responsible for the management of the assets.

Activities board
Meetings
The board meets at least four times a year for a meeting, of which minutes are drawn up.
Activities
The following activities are carried out under the responsibility of the board:
- Selecting suitable candidates for a recognized ultrasound training such as the short ultrasound training at the KCMC Hospital in Moshi.
- Guiding the selected candidates online during the training and for at least 2 years after completing the training.
- Maintain contact for cooperation and support with the ultrasound technicians trained by the Mount Meru Foundation.
- Recruiting and maintaining local contacts.
- Collaborate with the Driving Nurses Foundation to access rural areas with mobile service.
- The search for suitable sponsors for ultrasound equipment for assistance requests from Tanzania.
- Bringing attention to the high maternal and child mortality in Tanzania And that improving care can reduce this.
Finance
The board is responsible for a sound financial policy. The tasks that come with this include
- Prepare an annual budget;
- Establish and approve annual accounts;
- Managing the funds;
- Spending the money.
Reimbursement of board members
The board members do not receive any remuneration for their board work.
4. Spending the capital
The capital is spent in accordance with the objective of the Mount Meru Foundation.
- The income of the foundation goes entirely to training healthcare providers in ultrasound and the purchase of proper ultrasound equipment.
All additional costs, such as travel costs, are for the account of the board members.
The Mount Meru Hospital is responsible for maintenance of the device and further training of midwives.
