improves mother and child care in Afrika
In the fall of 2023, the Foundation visited the Usambara Mountains, a fertile, densely populated, yet challenging region. During this working visit, the possibilities for supporting pregnancy ultrasound were thoroughly examined. In several locations, it was observed that ultrasound capacity was not yet at the desired level.
It was deemed essential to ensure adequate capacity before considering expanding with mobile ultrasound services to outlying areas. The Foundation decided to focus primarily on providing well-trained personnel in key clinics.
By the end of 2023, Ahmed Tunda, a junior ultrasound specialist from the Lusotho Hospital, underwent intensive hands-on training with Regina Namumba in Tabora. In 2024, the Mount Meru Foundation hopes to offer ultrasound training to more healthcare providers.
